Around 70 different species of birds can be found on Gigha including hen harriers and perigan falcons who inhabit the west coast of the island, kestrals and buzzards, beautiful lapwings with their entrancing aerial dexterity, barn owls and numerous seabirds including cormorants, gannets, eiders and great northern divers.

Common seals can often be seen around the rocky bays and shores of the island as well as otters. Dolphins sometimes follow the ferry!

There's an abundance of wild flowers that during the spring and summer months carpet the island including including sea pinks, wild orchids, bluebells, wild iris and grass of parnassus.

At nightime the dark skies above Gigha allow for some spectacular stargazing and if you're lucky a stunning display of the aurora borealis.
