Are you an organised person with excellent communication skills looking for a role that can make a difference? The Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust is looking for a part time Estates Officer.  

The Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust (IGHT) was established in 2002 to enable a community buyout of the Isle of Gigha. IGHT is a registered charity and has three subsidiary companies. 

In this role, you would be responsible for:

  • administration of Trust’s residential and farm portfolio
  • acting as the first point of contact for tenants
  • liaising with the maintenance team and external contractors
  • administering the process for allocating any vacant properties
  • addressing member enquiries and related activities such as members meetings and communications

It essential that you have excellent people and communication skills, and able to work in a small team. You will also have customer service experience. You will be organised and able to use Microsoft office.

The role is part time, 21 hours a week with set daily hours Monday to Friday. The rate of pay is £8.75/hour. We aspire to be a Living Wage employer.

Job purpose:               

This role is responsible for acting as the main point of contact for all IGHT estates, members and resident’s issues, resolving issues and delivering exceptional customer service.


Core Responsibilities:

These are the core responsibilities for this role and is not an exhaustive list. The post holder will be required to undertake any other tasks as requested.

  • Responsible for the day to day management of the trust residential housing portfolio, acting as first point of contact, responding to tenant queries proactively and informing maintenance of any issues
  • Responsible for the day to day management of the trust farm portfolio, acting as first point of contact, responding to farm tenant queries and informing maintenance of any issues
  • Responsible for escalating any serious issues or costs to the Trust Manager
  • Liaise with Maintenance and external suppliers to ensure the implementation of any agreed maintenance is to plan, time and cost
  • Responsible for administrating the residential housing allocations process including managing the wait list, advertising vacant properties, collating and anonymising applications, and providing support to the allocations committee as required
  • Supplier management of all third-party contractors including requesting quotes for consideration by the Trust Manager, scheduling work in conjunction with Senior Maintenance Officer and resolving any delivery issues
  • Providing administrative support to membership meetings, taking minutes and general membership administration
  • Positive engagement with the policies and procedures agreed by the Board
  • Constructive and supportive interaction with all Trust employees and members

  • Ability to solve problems and effect solutions within a small team environment
  • Experience of Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrate a professional positive and personable manner, representing IGHT positively at all times
  • Work to high standards of Health and Safety



  • Business administration qualifications such as, NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or 3
  • Experience of supplier management, in particular maintenance related suppliers
  • Minute taking experience
